Purpose

Law on Energy Regulator regulates the functioning of the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) as an independent agency, sets tasks and responsibilities of the ERO, which issues certificates of origin, develops regulated tariff methodologies and issues licenses for energy activities and authorisations for the development of new generation capacities. It partially transposes EU legislation, including the Directive 2009/72/EC on common rules for the

internal market in electricity, the Regulation 714/2009/EC on conditions for access to the grid for cross-border exchanges in electricity, and Directive 2009/28/EC concerning the promotion of energy use from renewable energy sources.

Relevance for renewable energy

The Law defines duties and obligations of the Regulator in regulating and promoting renewable energy sources.
