Purpose

The Energy Law regulates basic principles of the energy policy and its method of implementation. It determines the conditions for a reliable and secure energy generation and energy supply, construction of new facilities and the organising and functioning of the electricity and natural gas market. Moreover, the Energy Law sets out the rights and obligations of the market participants and prescribes the conditions for the promotion of energy production from renewable energy sources and combined generation of electricity and heat. Finally, it entails the rights and duties of governmental bodies such as the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia.

Relevance for renewable energy

Basic legal document which recognizies the promotion of renewable energy sources as one of the main national energy policy goals and establishes the legal base for the promotion and regulation of renewable energy market.
