Purpose

The purpose of the act is to raise the electricity production from CHP to 110 TWh by 2020 and 120TWh by 2015 by supporting the modernisation and construction of CHP plants, the market introduction of fuel cells as well as the modernisation and expansion of a heating infrastructure (§ 1 KWKG).

Relevance for renewable energy

KWKG does not entail exclusive obligations on the use of renewable energy in CHP.
