Subsidy III (Investment subsidy for offgrid installations)

Companies, other entrepreneurial organisations, confessional facilities and associations can profit from investment subsidies granted for the installation of offgrid power plants for the purpose of self-supply. Furthermore, the subsidies may be granted to electrical energy storage devices.

Investment subsidy is granted for the installation of offgrid power plants (Offgrid subsidy guidelines).

Amount

  • Standard subsidy: 30 % of the costs of installation eligible for funding with a cap of € 1,500,000 and a minimum investment sum of € 10,000.
  • Additional subsidy:
    • 5 % for installations in areas higher than 1200 meters or in ecologically sensitive areas.
    • 5 % in case the project is selected for EU co-funding by the European Regional Development Fund
    • 5 % or a maximum of € 10,000 for EMAS and eco-label (Offgrid subsidy guidelines)

Entitled party: Subsidies can only be claimed by companies or other entrepreneurial organisations, confessional facilities and associations (Offgrid subsidy guidelines). 

Procedure

Process flow

The following documents have to be handed in at the competent authority:

  • Technical description of the applied measure
  • Forecast of earnings and consumption
  • Estimate of costs
  • For wind and hydro-power plants: planning and building permission
  • In case of an investment volume of more than € 500,000: report of the competent authority (Offgrid subsidy guidelines).

Distribution of costs

The costs are borne to the state according to the available financial resources (§ 6 para. 2a UFG)

Plant operator

Investment grants are only available if the investment costs of the plant operator exceed € 10,000.

European Union

The project may be selected for EU co-funding by the European Regional Development funds with 35% of the investment costs.
