RD&D Policies (Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult-ORE)

Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult-ORE is basically an offshore wind R&D hub that focuses on innovation across the sector and accelerating the success of UK companies in the offshore wind, wave and tidal sectors. Initiated in 2013, the hub’s has grown revenue from £1m in Financial Year 2013-14 to £7.3m in Financial Year 2017-18. ORE operates £1/4bn of test facilities and has supported 121 companies in their product development. ORE also assisted over 410 SMEs and delivered 196 R&D projects with 100 in delivery in 2018. Internationally, the Catapult is focussed on creating links between the UK supply chains and burgeoning offshore renewable energy markets. ORE aims at providing a secure risk- free environment for R&D in the offshore wind supply chain that can consequently decrease the Levelised Cost of Electricity (LCOE) of those technologies. ORE is part of the Catapult Programme, a network of world-leading centres designed to transform the UK’s capability for innovation in specific areas and help drive future economic growth.
