Certification of installers

The installer of micro installations or small installations may request issuance of a certificate from the President of the Office of Technical Inspection (UDT) (Art. 136 par. 1 RES-Act).

The certificate is evidence of formal qualifications of the installer to install the following types of renewable energy sources installations:

  • boilers and stoves using biomass,
  • PV installations
  • solar thermal systems
  • heat pumps
  • shallow geothermal installations (Art. 136. 2 RES-Act).

The certificate can be issued to an installer that meets the following conditions:

  • has:
    • the full legal capacity,
    • a diploma confirming vocational qualifications or equivalent evidence of formal qualifications for the installation of plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling appliances or
    • a documented 3-years professional experience in installation or modernisation of equipment and installation of sanitation, electricity, heating and cooling appliances or
    • a certificate of completion of at least two-semester graduate school or equivalent, of which the program included the concerned qualifications
    • a certificate of completion of training from the manufacturer of the type of renewable energy source;
  • has not been convicted by a final judgment of a court for an offense against the credibility of documents and business transactions;
  • graduated from basic training for people applying for a certificate for installers of micro- or small installations, carried out by an accredited training provider, with regard to installation of the RES-installation;
  • passed an examination conducted by the examination committee not later than 12 months from the date of completion of basic training (Art. 136 par. 3 RES-Act).

Certificate is issued for five years (Art. 139 par. 3 RES-Act).

Distribution of costs

Private Financing

The costs of the certification examination are borne by either the company employing the installer or the installer himself (Art. 157 RES-Act).
