In Denmark, electricity from renewable sources is promoted through a premium tariff and net-metering. In addition, local initiatives for the construction of wind and solar energy plants are supported through loan guarantees.

Grid issues

In Denmark, access of electricity from renewable energy sources to the grid is mainly governed by the general legislation on energy and shall be granted according to the principle of non-discrimination. Electricity from renewable sources is subject to special provisions only with regard to the use of the grid, in which renewable energy shall be given priority. The grid users are not entitled to the expansion of the grid.

The following policies aim at promoting the development, installation and use of RES installations: There are 2 training programmes for RES-installers, a certification scheme for wind energy plants, a research, development and demonstration (RD&D) programme.
