Certification Programmes for RES installations

As yet, facilities do not need to meet any quality standards in order to benefit from support schemes. At the same time, there are many national standards for renewable energy technologies but none of them is linked to eligibility for support schemes. There are only requirements regarding the type of equipment for which funding is provided through aid schemes and these are laid down in the definitions of the eligible activities under the relevant assistance programmes.
Several standards have been introduced concerning the characteristics of solid biofuels – in particular their moisture content, ash content, lower calorific value, etc. – but they are not linked to eligibility for support schemes.
